GROWING & MAKING:The couple of rows of Viognier Craig Nield grows at his Boyup Brook vineyard are a labour of love. The key to this aromatic variety is picking it at the right moment; in 2023 we reckon we got it spot on with a beautiful balance between pretty floral aromas and stone-fruit richness. Hand-picked, pressed and fermented in two barrels; wild yeast and ten months on gross lees to build weight and complexity. Viognier’s perfumed aromatics burst out of the glass, along with the hallmark apricots and a hint of grapefruit; the wild yeast and barrel ferment add a savoury complexity. Bright, fresh and sophisticated.
Unfined, unfiltered; minimal mucking about. Vegan.
