About

Yeah Wines is our family business; owned and operated by Sian and Andrew Dawson.

In 2020 Andrew was winemaker at a big winery, where too often awesome grapes from different WA regions were blended away into bulk wine. The potential of these less-known regions intrigued him and when his employer decided not to purchase a small parcel of Geographe Tempranillo it was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up. Alongside the Temp, a small batch of Chenin Blanc was made with a friend and Yeah Wine was born.

Towards the end of 2021 the decision was made to try and turn Yeah Wine into a full time enterprise. Andrew resigned, a shed was rented and the search for second-hand equipment began. Today Yeah Wine makes over twenty different wines from nearly every Western Australian region. While we source most of our fruit from growers we are responsible for everything else; for making, maturing, bottling, labelling, marketing and selling our wines.

Exploring lesser known vineyards, grape varieties and winemaking techniques is at the heart of Yeah Wine. Whether we are spruiking the gravely hills of Boyup Brook as a source of epic red wines, encouraging people to drink more Verdelho and Tempranillo or promoting the joys of skin contact whites we hope to engage your tastebuds in an intriguing journey. We are proud of what we produce and hope you enjoy it.

Our Story

We proudly source our grapes from growers across Western Australia.

While our winery is based in a shed out the back of Cowaramup, we search wide and far to find grapes that are delicious and unique. Whether from Boyup Brook or Mt Barker, Harvey or Frankland River, The Swan Valley or Nannup we try to source grapes that are not just packed with flavour, but express the unique characteristics of where they are grown.

All our Single Vineyard wines are produced 100% from a specific vineyard and 100% from a specific grape variety. We currently have three different Single Vineyard Syrahs available. While this creates extra work with bottling, labelling and marketing, it means that we have three different wines that, while made the same and produced from the same grape variety, taste vastly different and allow exploration of the specific characteristics of where they were grown.

We see our growers as our friends; people who we are in partnership with to create epic wines. Where possible we acknowledge them and their vineyards on our labels. We see our role as an intermediatory in bringing the unique characteristics of a vineyard to you via a bottle of delicious booze.

Vineyards

All our wines are handmade. We hand make, hand bottle, hand label and bucket by hand tonnes and tonnes of grapes each year.

Our small batch, hands on approach allows us to focus on quality… Our whites are often barrel fermented using wild yeasts and higher solid levels, to add texture and complexity to the primary fruit. Our reds are mostly fermented in small, open fermenters, hand plunged and basket pressed; creating wines of intricacy and depth with gentle tannins and aromatic vibrancy.

We love to experiment and by embracing different wine making techniques hope to build complexity, texture and flavour. Our range includes wines made using skin contact, whole berries, whole bunches, carbonic maceration and co-fermentation. Yeah Wine aims to make wines of personality and flavour.  We don’t feel a need to jump on the band wagon and use gimmicky terms like ‘natural wine’ or ‘minimal intervention’, but instead aim to make wines as authenticity as possible. For the vast majority of our wines we don’t fine or filter, nor do we add acid or tannin. A small amount of sulphur is used post ferment and pre-bottling. We see our wines as being made authentically, with minimal mucking about.

Yeah Wine aims to produce wines that are modern, unique, vibrant and, most importantly, full of flavour, not wank.
