GROWING & MAKING: The couple of rows of Viognier Craig Nield grows at his Boyup Brook vineyard are a labour of love (and not just because his wife Jodi loves this grape). The key to this aromatic variety is picking it at the right moment; in 2022 we got it spot on! Hand-picked, pressed and fermented in a single barrel; wild yeast and eight months on gross lees to build weight and complexity. Viognier’s perfumed aromatics burst out of the glass, along with the hallmark apricots and a hint of grapefruit; the wild yeast and barrel ferment add a savoury complexity. Bright, fresh and sophisticated.
Unfined, unfiltered; minimal mucking about. Vegan.
