GROWING & MAKING: Located down a dirt track, off a dirt road somewhere between Boyup Brook and Bridgetown is Craig Nield’s 25-year-old vineyard. His perfectly tended Cabernet vines benefit from warm days, cool nights and gravelly slopes. Fermented in open vats, hand plunged and basket pressed before maturation for 16 months in French oak. A concentrated and powerful wine, with intense ripe fruit flavours, but at the same time, the hint of choc-mint and fine tannins mean this could be nothing, but Cabernet. Packed with concentration and flavour, a great example of what the Blackwood Valley can produce.
Unfined, unfiltered; minimal mucking about. Vegan.
