Small Batch 'Too Cool Old School' 2021
Cabernet is delicious. Shiraz is delicious. Together they're super-duper delicious. Don't be scared of this classic Aussie blend; old school is the new cool.
GROWING & MAKING: Cab Shiraz is as ‘old school’ as you get in Australian wine. It’s a unique Aussie blend that works so well, yet we don’t make much of in WA. Cabernet is generally seen as having length, fine tannins and elegance, but can be a touch hollow on the midpalate, we often use Merlot to fill this gap, but the juiciness of Shiraz can work superbly. This blend is centred around a barrel of Frankland River Cabernet and about half a barrel of Blackwood Valley Cab; it was rounded out with Shiraz from Mt Barker and Geographe. It’s a concentrated, rich wine with plenty of bright berry flavours, lushness on the palate and understated spiciness.
Unfined, unfiltered; minimal mucking about. Vegan.
